What the Tree Shadow Said
The shadow in the road of a stand of trees on a spring day in Truckee CA., made me stop, and stare, the mysterious shapes were calling to me. I don't know why this happens, or who's calling me, but any artist has a similar experience, when for whatever reason, the enchantment begins. I have been painting tree shadows for many years, it's one of my themes that I keep returning to. I find the abstract patterns from trees reflected onto the ground very compelling. I love the way the patterns of branches and leaves create their own abstract composition. I somehow feel that I'm painting the past, the footprint of the tree, its shadowy companion. Immortalized shadows always move with the sun and eventually disappear.
