Philosophy

In her art, Joanne Evers aims to venerate the profound gifts of nature and the precious moments we are granted on this Earth. Her paintings seek to capture the fleeting essence of nature and time - the delicate curve of a leaf, a solitary bird in a snowy landscape, the ever-changing shapes of clouds, the rhythmic flow of water, and the play of shadows beneath a tree.

The ultimate challenge lies in translating these subjects onto canvas in a way that immortalizes a specific moment, serving as a gentle reminder of the ephemeral nature of both the natural world and our own existence. Through the act of painting, she is able to create a sanctuary where time holds no sway, allowing her to delve into a realm of exploration where her spirit resonates in harmony.

“It is my genuine wish that those who engage with my artwork might also encounter a sense of transcendence, akin to the profound connection I experience during the artistic process.”

“I use traditional materials and methods in my artwork.  I prefer to draw and paint from life using graphite, charcoal, and oil paint on canvas. The forests and wildlife of the Sierra Nevada Mountains are my medium.  I use color as a language to evoke emotion, to exaggerate, and draw attention to my subject. Often my paintings contain shadows and reflections cast by nature.”

Evers is currently working in the outdoors, as her studio, bringing the power and majesty of the Sierra Nevada to canvas and paint. She expresses the peace, power, life and joy of nature to her paintings - something she feels is not always possible in the confines of a studio.
